EPK: Night at Work by Kurtains
Kurtains’ latest single, Night at Work, is a follow up from a previous release, Reefer. While the alternative song, Night at Work, portrays a story of second chances, the intention goes far deeper. Kurtains has created a web of music that unfolds into a parallel universe. An entire world lives inside his mind, in which multiple perspectives are shared through different songs.
In 2021, he dedicated his EP, Insignia’s Manor, to the perspective of Pierre, a fictional character within the alter-universe.
Night at Work, along with some of his newer songs, begin to tell the story from a different angle; introducing Sandy Nevermore.
“It all fits into the lore,” said Kurtains. As he hinted at plans in explaining more of the complex story through music.
Although it took him only two days to record the song, the process of connecting pieces together took him nearly two years. Night at Work has an intro of mellow guitar strums that lead into an upbeat chorus with bass and drums. The song embodies the feeling of melancholy and aspiration
Kurtains has performed Night at Work in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and London, while on tour with Brakence. Kurtains has also been working with Glaive to record a second version of the song, which has yet to be officially released.
